InGear Performance was founded from a lifelong passion for motorsport, precision engineering and the pursuit of mechanical excellence.
From an early age, founder Jamie developed an obsession with understanding how things worked and how they could be made to perform better. At just sixteen years old, he built his first race engine, featuring a ported cylinder head, high-compression pistons, a performance camshaft, twin carburettors and a tuned exhaust system. More than forty years later, that same passion continues to drive every project undertaken at InGear Performance.
Jamie’s background combines precision machining, CAD design, manufacturing engineering and industrial automation with decades of hands-on motorsport experience. This unique combination of practical knowledge and engineering expertise allows complex challenges to be approached with innovative, reliable and purpose-built solutions.
Today, Jamie continues to develop and campaign his Toyota KP61 Starlet, using it as both a test platform and a continual source of engineering development. The lessons learned through real-world motorsport are directly applied to the products and services offered to customers.
MOTORSPORT TRANSMISSION SPECIALISTS
In 2011, InGear Performance became the New Zealand and Australian distributor for Elite Racing Transmissions. Recognising a lack of affordable, high-quality racing transmission solutions supported by local technical expertise, we partnered with Elite to provide customers with not only proven products, but also expert advice, servicing and ongoing after-sales support.
Building on that success, we formed a partnership with Finland’s GearMotive Transmissions in 2017. Their precision-engineered H-pattern and sequential gearboxes offer exceptional strength, reliability and performance, providing a competitive alternative to significantly more expensive transmission systems. GearMotive specialises in many of the world’s most iconic Japanese and European performance vehicles while also producing bespoke solutions for custom applications.

Our expertise extends well beyond supplying transmissions.
We work closely with every customer to design complete driveline solutions, from selecting the ideal gear ratios using specialist transmission simulation software through to designing and manufacturing custom bellhousing adapters, gearbox mounts, driveline components and precision-engineered parts tailored to each application.
Every component is developed with performance, reliability and serviceability in mind, whether destined for a dedicated race car, high-performance street vehicle or one-off custom build.
