
Developed from GearMotive’s proven ZF H-pattern dogbox platform, the sequential version uses the same heavy-duty gear and shaft technology that has been proven in high-power competition applications, combined with a purpose-designed sequential shifting mechanism for fast, positive and consistent gear changes.
Proven Motorsport Performance
The transmission features extremely strong straight-cut gears and a patented design developed to improve power handling capability. GearMotive reports the underlying gearset has been successfully used in applications producing over 1100 Nm, particularly in drift and drag racing.
A direct 1:1 fifth gear helps reduce transmission losses and noise when running in top gear.
Motorsport Ratio Options
Two close-ratio configurations are available to suit different competition requirements:
Rally / Circuit
- 1st — 2.23
- 2nd — 1.71
- 3rd — 1.38
- 4th — 1.16
- 5th — 1.00
Designed with a longer first gear and closer spacing between ratios.
Drift / Drag / Rallycross
- 1st — 2.73
- 2nd — 1.83
- 3rd — 1.42
- 4th — 1.16
- 5th — 1.00
Provides a slightly shorter first gear with larger ratio drops to suit high-power applications.
Sequential Shifting
The billet aluminium sequential shifter is self-centering, lightweight and compact, with an integrated shift-cut sensor option allowing flat-shift functionality when connected to a compatible engine management system.
An optional electronic package includes a touchscreen gear display, Electronic Control Module (ECM) and dedicated wiring harness, providing gear-position information and adjustable shift-cut functionality.
BMW ZF Bolt-In Installation
One of the major advantages of the GearMotive design is its compact packaging.
The transmission uses a BMW ZF S5D bellhousing together with GearMotive’s custom rear housing, allowing it to replace many existing BMW ZF S5D transmissions or GearMotive ZF dogboxes with minimal vehicle modification.
The sequential shifter is also designed to locate in the original shifter position. Complete transmission weight with bellhousing is approximately 38 kg.
